European Technology & Innovation Platform PhotoVoltaics

ETIP PV Conference

ETIP PV annual conference ‘I3PV - Integrated, Innovative, Intelligent’ on 5&6 May 2020 in Brussels

May 5, 2020 – May 6, 2020

We regret to inform you that the ETIP PV Conference has to be postponed due to the global risk derived from the COVID-19. We will announce a new date as soon as the situation has normalized.

The future of the energy system is electric. The future is solar PV!

By 2050, when the world must achieve carbon neutrality, ETIP PV's forecast based on conversion efficiency improvements and Solar PV’s declining cost is that solar PV will supply 70% of the world’s electricity generation. We will use solar PV to move, heat, cool, drive eco-friendly industrial processes and produce fuels. Solar PV will be deployed everywhere, in systems large and small, designed for productivity and aesthetics as required.

“Integrated PV” (PV deeply embedded into components used in the building industry or car industry, for example) will play a key role in this scenario. This will be a profitable market for Europe, with high potential for growth, which will bring numerous business opportunities. It needs R&D attention and accelerated innovation.

This conference will highlight the latest advances in all major Integrated PV applications and how they will contribute to the energy transition as well as EU-based value creation. Industry leaders, scientists, engineers and policy makers are invited to join the debate on 5&6 May in Brussels!

5 May 2020: Annual Conference Day 1 (12:00 – 18:00)

12: 00 Conference Opening: The opportunity represented by Integrated PV applications on local value creation

  • Keynotes from the European Commission and ETIP PV high level representatives

Session I – Building and Infrastructure Integrated Photovoltaics

Including a panel discussion where investors, architects, PV module manufacturers and developers share their needs. How can these be met simultaneously at the right price?

Session II – Vehicle Integrated Photovoltaics

Vehicle Integrated Photovoltaics helps to reduce GHG emissions, e.g. by creating range extension, reducing the electric charges and by supporting car lighting, air conditioning and other accessories. Most recent developments from the car industry will be presented and discussed.

6 May 2020: Annual Conference Day 2 (09:00 – 14:00)

Session III – Agriculture Photovoltaics

Agrivoltaics aims at simultaneously using agricultural land for food production and PV power generation. Enabling a large increase of land use efficiency, APV opens the door for substantially expanding PV capacity while preserving fertile arable land for agriculture.

Session IV – PV in local energy systems

Local vs. remote energy production: how it matters for the transition to zero carbon territory

Session V – Floating Photovoltaics

Human population is often concentrated near water, in areas where there is large competition for land usage (agriculture, buildings, infra, nature). This is the main reason why in recent years the interest in floating solar solutions for electricity generation has increased enormously.

ETIP PV invites experts to submit an abstract for the Poster Session of this Conference. Selected authors will have the chance to present their projects over two days in two poster sessions of 30 minutes each.

We look for abstracts showcasing the benefits of all kind of Integrated PV applications including PV integrated in buildings, infrastructure and vehicles as well as agriculture photovoltaics and floating photovoltaics.

The abstracts could focus on: the role of Integrated PV in the energy transition and on EU local value creation, manufacturing, innovative PV technologies, contribution to lowering production costs, quality and reliability at manufacturing level, and in general the impact of integrated PV on the transformation of urban and non-urban landscapes.

How to apply

Send your abstract to the ETIP PV Secretariat via email ( by 20 March 2020.

Abstracts must be written in English and should include the following information:

• Lead presenter’s name, organization, email, and phone number (Contact person)
• Additional presenters’ names, credentials, and organization
• Aim of the project
• Scientific innovation and relevance
• Results or preliminary results and conclusions

The total length should not be more than two pages.

The conference is free to attend but space is limited. Book your seat now!

Follow us on social media at #ETIPPV and #PVeverywhere to be the first to know about our conference updates!

Right after the end of the conference, PV IMPACT is organizing a matchmaking event where you will have the opportunity to meet other experts, interact, exchange innovative project ideas and find the best partners to work with in the fields of Building Integrated PV (BIPV) and Vehicle Integrated PV (VIPV). All of this during two sessions organized in a speed-dating format facilitated in an open and creative environment. Registration to this event is required and it is independent from the ETIP PV conference registration.
