ETIP PV celebrating 20 Years Anniversary

This year ETIP PV celebrates 20 years since its foundation!

Since its founding in 2005 as the European Photovoltaic Technology Platform (EU PV TP) and evolving into ETIP PV in 2016, the platform has been a key driver of research, innovation, and large-scale solar deployment. From early strategic visions to setting multi-terawatt goals, our conferences have led discussions that shape Europe’s clean energy landscape. 

 A special thanks to Dr. Marko Topič (University of Ljubljana) for his dedication and leadership from 2006 to 2022, playing a pivotal role in the platform’s success. We also extend our gratitude to Rutger Schlatmann (Helmholtz Berlin), who has been leading ETIP PV since 2022, driving the platform forward in a rapidly evolving solar industry.

Throughout the years, more than 700 PV experts from across Europe contributed to the development of ETIP PV in advancing R&I of PV in Europe. Some key publications:

• 2011: The publication of the 2nd Edition of the Strategic Research Agenda for Photovoltaic Solar Energy Technology, offering a roadmap for technological advances and key research priorities.
• 2014-2015: A major success was the LCOE Working Group, which produced the landmark publication “PV LCOE in Europe 2014-30”, providing critical insights into cost competitiveness and market growth.
•  2021: Published the Strategic R&I Agenda (SRIA), guiding long-term solar innovation.
• 2023: Rebranded with a modern visual identity and released the PV Industry White Paper: “Understanding the Value Chain for a Successful Industrial Policy.”
• 2024: Updated the SRIA to reflect new ambitions for solar deployment and production.
